The Washington Park neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side is set to come alive with color, creativity, and community spirit at the unveiling of a groundbreaking augmented reality (AR) mural. The event, taking place on October 5, 2024, promises a full day of programming designed to engage and inspire residents and visitors alike.
The centerpiece of the event is the unveiling of a stunning AR mural that merges art and technology, allowing participants to interact with the artwork using their smartphones. This innovative piece not only beautifies the Washington Park area but also celebrates the rich cultural history and dynamic future of the Southside.
“We’re excited to bring this unique blend of art and technology to the South Side, specifically the Washington Park community,” said Brandon Breaux, Arts and Activation Curator. “This mural is more than a refreshing visual experience; it’s an invitation for people to connect with the neighborhood and its history in a deeper way.”

The unveiling will take place at 5536 S King Drive at 12pm/noon. Attendees are encouraged to bring their smartphones and headphones to fully experience the augmented reality features of the mural.
