Blanc’s 2024 exhibition series, To Reveal The Beloved, celebrates the centenary of the birth of James Baldwin. An insightful and masterful artist, visionary and analyst of the human condition, Baldwin wrote that “Societies never know it, but the war of an artist with his society is a lover’s war, and he does, at his best, what lovers do, which is to reveal the beloved to himself and, with that revelation, to make freedom real.” This year, we are interested in connecting with collaborators that look at the world with the same keen eye that Baldwin did; examining the nuance of everyday life with a wit and precision that captures its aliveness and brimming possibility.
